Experienced and Efficient Legal Assistance
At the Law Office of Andres R. Guevara in Denver, Colorado, I provide my clients with experienced and personalized legal representation. Prior to establishing my Denver law practice, I worked for several years as an assistant district attorney in the busiest county in New York. I handled hundreds of cases, both high-profile and low-profile. I worked with police investigators, forensics experts and witnesses. Later I became an enforcement attorney with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission in Denver. In this position, I investigated and litigated cases of potential federal securities law violations by corporate entities and individuals in Colorado.
I am attorney Andres Guevara. Today I only represent individuals: people who are accused of crimes or have family issues such as divorce or restraining order violations. I am very knowledgeable about what can happen. My experience as a former prosecutor is something I use every day to help my clients.
Understanding How the Other Side Thinks
Some defense attorneys get tunnel vision because they have never seen a case from the state’s point of view. One of the things that separates me from many other lawyers is that I have seen both sides of a criminal case. As a result of my experience as a prosecutor, I learned how police and district attorneys put domestic violence, assault and other criminal cases together. Understanding how the state prosecutes cases helps me prepare a better defense for my clients.
My experience as a prosecutor and criminal defense attorney also helps me when I am handling family law cases such as divorce and child custody disputes. Many family law attorneys are not trial lawyers and have very little experience in the courtroom. As a lawyer who is as comfortable in the courtroom as in a settlement conference, I am prepared to prove your case in court if I have to.
Trial Experienced and Trial Ready
Not every case needs to be tried. In many cases, a negotiated settlement is preferred, especially in family law cases where you want to preserve your relationship with the other side. However, some cases need to be tried. For example, in a criminal case, your livelihood and freedom may be at stake in the outcome and you may not be able to afford to plead guilty. In many cases, however, a guilty plea could mean more than loss of freedom — it can mean the loss of a job, the foreclosing of career paths, and social stigma. When you need to go to trial, you must be sure that your attorney is experienced and ready to fight for you in court.
